The aim of this web site is to facilitate the NGO/sponsor relations and to take you along with us, at the heart of our daily work. We believe in the interest of our action and we want to share our passion with you. In this part entitled career, we are presenting to you our projects.
Our objective has been to construct a building for the Tribal populations that will create in the long term a self-sustainable society. The vocation and the use of this construction are multiple. To begin with, it is a primary and secondary school for more than a 100 tribal children, now able to receive a good education. It is also a hostel for most of them and all the needs and expenses of the children are fully taken in charge by us and by You, through our sponsorship process. “We have recruited 11 people there to work for the children in this building. This figure includes teachers, watch person and so on…” The building has opened its doors in April 2007 after a great ceremony which was attended by all the Kalvarayan Hills communities.
The building construction was epic. The spot is very rocky and remote and it has been very hard for our partners to supply us, but we found highly committed contractors who have used their own vehicles to carry sand and other raw materials. Water resource was also a big goal and although we had water dwells with all motor facilities, we couldn’t take the water into tank or storage due to the lack of fluctuation in power supply, so villagers had to be recruited only to fetch water to the dwell.
The result of this hard work is a huge and beautiful building for the development of the tribal people. This building will be also utilized for the “Young Teenager Formation Trainings”.
So that our project be a perfect success, we are now willing to build up a Health Center opposite to our school building. Indeed, we believe that health and education are the two first steps toward economic development.
The aim of this new project is also to answer the demand of the local population which has not a single medical service near their villages, they have to go at least 50 km away, down the Hills, to find their nearest health facilities. As a result, Tribal people are still dieing for small reasons like snake bite and heavy bleeding during accidents.
With our Health Centre Building at Thail Vanniyur, at least 35 villages will benefit from the health care services and the awareness campaigns. This is about 10,000 people considering that each village is having 50-60 households and each family contains 6-7 members.
To cut the story short, this will allow them to live in decent conditions and protect them from dangerous hazards. The sanitation conditions in the Hills are frightening and we don’t have clear figures, but we can easily conceive a high mortality rate and a short life expectancy considering that delivery is still made at home, operation surgeries are inexistent just like the emergency system is.

Our project
We realized that it was too late for most of the young teenagers to start a normal school education; firstly because they are already playing a center-stage in the family organization and secondly because they are too ashamed to attend the same classes that their younger brothers aged 5 or 6 are attending. So we have decided to carry out trainings especially for these elder children who will never go to school.
These children need some skills for their careers and these will enable them to take ownership and independent. It will also protect them from unskilled labors as well as child labor. |
| |
Project process.
We have selected 25 girls aged between 9 and 16 to attend the first training called “nursery training”.
This training will last 3 months and will be in total immersion in the breast of our Center in Thail Vanniyur so as to protect the child from dropping out and also from the family pressures during the training. Professionals will also be hired to teach the girls and at the end of this training, girls will be delivered, by the government, a “Job Orienteer Certificate Course”.
The aim of this project is to empower girls and protect them from slavery works. Considering the main role of the girls in Tribal communities, we believe that this knowledge will be quickly spread to the whole community and penetrate the customs.
During the trainings all provisions will be supplied to the girls and at the end of it, they will be inserted in one of our development programs. We want them to be able to make their first experiences in a safe environment, under our protection, far from the stress of the outside world and when they acquire enough skill, they will be able to work freely in the world of labor.
|
If we gather enough money and if the feedbacks of the 1st training are good, we will implement other formation of trainings such as:
-Agriculture training.
-Driving training.
-Carpentry training.
-Milk corporate training.
-Tourism training… |

Our action in the future
We believe that this action will create a new generation of Kalvarayan Hill children: that’s to say children with skills, able to become independent and avoid slavery works. It means also that Kalvarayan Hills people will have the opportunity to get rid of the vicious circle that they have suffered till now.
"I and the whole staff have the desire to thank you for your everyday support and your attention. Please, don’t hesitate to post your feedback in our forum, this gives us the force to grow and improve our NGO". |
